DS cam shows recordings but sends no motion notifications. What should I check?

QUICK ANSWER

Surveillance Station needs both a working push-delivery channel and an enabled rule for the event. Start by separating a delivery fault from a missing detection event.

Applies to: Surveillance Station 9 and DS cam on supported Android or iOS devices. Menu wording varies by release.

Work through these checks

  1. Check that a new motion or supported detection event appears for the correct camera. Continuous recording alone does not prove that a motion event was generated.
  2. In Surveillance Station, open Notification and check Push Service. Confirm that the phone is paired through DS cam, then use Send Test Message where available.
  3. If the test arrives, review Notification Rules: the event type, camera, schedule and push delivery must all match. Check any home-mode or action-rule conditions that may suppress alerts.
  4. If the test does not arrive, allow DS cam notifications on the phone, check Focus/Do Not Disturb and background restrictions, and confirm the NAS has outbound internet/DNS access. Re-pair only the affected device if needed.

Confirm the result

Trigger one safe test event. Confirm the event time in Surveillance Station and receipt on the intended phone, including when the app is in the background.

If you need help

Include these details in your ticket: Surveillance Station/DS cam versions, phone OS, camera/event type, time zone, test-message result and redacted notification-rule screenshots.
