Overview

Cloud Station for Synology NAS is a file-syncing application that lets you easily synchronize files on your Synology NAS with other devices, such as computers or mobile devices (with DS cloud). Once Cloud Station has been installed on both your Synology NAS and computer, files stored in a specified folder on your computer will be automatically synced to your Synology NAS.

1. Before you start

Please do the following:
  • Make sure your DiskStation is running DSM 4.0 and later.
  • Install and run Cloud Station on your DiskStation. 

2. Set up Cloud Station on Synology NAS

  1. Login to DSM using an account belonging to the administrator.
  2. Open Cloud Station.

  3. If you have not enabled the user home feature, you'll be prompted to do so. Click OK.

  4. You'll be redirected to the user settings page. Enable user homes and click Apply.

  5. Now go back to Cloud Station and you'll be prompted to enable it. Click Yes.

  6. Go to Privileges and specify which users will be able to use Cloud Station. For example, we'll choose the admin account and click Save.

3. Set up Cloud Station on your computer

  1. Go to Cloud Station > Overview and click the Computers button.

  2. Click the button to download Cloud Station for your operating system.

  3. Launch the installer on your computer and follow the instructions to install Cloud Station. (For example the Windows installer is shown below.)

  4. After installation, run Cloud Station on your computer. Click Start Now.

  5. Enter your computer name, address for the Synology NAS running Cloud Station (or QuickConnect ID), username, and password.

  6. Select a folder on your computer to keep synced with the Synology NAS.

  7. Click Finish to complete the setup wizard.

  8. Now you can access your files from the sync folder on your computer or the Cloud Station folder inside your home folder on the Synology NAS.
