Last Updated 7 years ago

File Station allows you to directly access files on the Mac computer. To enjoy this convenience, please follow the steps below:

First, log in to your Synology NAS and finish the setup below:
  1. Go to File Station > Settings > General > Browse Local Files.
  2. Select Browse files from local computer with File Station.
  3. Click OK.
Then, go to your Mac computer and follow the steps below:
  1. Download Java Runtime Environment (JRE, available here: https://java.com/download/).
  2. Open the installer and follow the wizard's instructions to finish the setup.
  3. Open the Safari browser, click Safari on the top-left corner, and click Preferences.
  4. Go to Security > Internet plug-ins, select Allow Plug-ins, and click Plug-in Settings...
  5. Make sure Java is allowed to run. To avoid repeated prompts when using JRE, set the status of your Synology NAS to Run in Unsafe Mode.
  6. When a prompt pops up, click Trust to allow your Synology NAS to use the JRE installed on Safari.
  7. Click Done.
Last, re-log in to your Synology NAS with Safari and go to File Station. Follow the prompt instructions and allow JRE to work on your Synology NAS. Afterward, you will find the local main folders displayed on the left panel of File Station.
