NVR: How to export IP camera configuration on Synology Surveillance Station?
Last Updated 8 years ago

Overview

Surveillance Station is a professional Video Management Software (VMS) add-on for DiskStation Manager (DSM), allowing you to remotely record and monitor video footage from IP cameras which are paired with your DiskStation. Surveillance Station allows you to export your current IP camera configurations for backup purposes, or pair the entire set of camera settings with another DiskStation for quick deployment.

This article will guide you through the process of exporting your IP camera configurations on Synology Surveillance Station.

1. Before you start

This article assumes that you have done the following tasks:
  • Installed and activated Surveillance Station from Package Center.
  • Installed at least one camera on Surveillance Station.
  • Created at least one shared folder besides “surveillance” on your DiskStation.

2. Export IP camera configurations

If you want to export your IP camera configurations, do the following:
  1. Log into Surveillance Station with the Surveillance Station Manager account or one belonging to the administrators group.
  2. Go to Management > IP Camera, and then click Configuration > Export.
  3. In the Configuration Export Wizard, name your configuration and select a destination to save the file. Then click Next.
  4. Select and add the camera(s) whose configurations you want to export, and then click Finish.
  5. A subfolder "SSCamExport_Configuration_Name" under your chosen destination will be created to archive the settings.

If the camera configuration is altered and needs to be restored at a later date, or if you want to duplicate camera settings to another DiskStation for quick deployment, you can go to Configuration > Import to restore settings by importing the configuration file from the destination shared folder specified in step 3.
