Frequently Asked Question
Why is my existing QVR Pro or QVR Elite licence not appearing in QVR Surveillance?
QVR Surveillance can recognise compatible QVR Pro and QVR Elite licences, but the licence must be activated on the NAS and available for that application. A licence still being used by another QVR application cannot be used simultaneously.
- Identify the exact products. Check the installed application name and version in App Center. Record whether the entitlement is a QVR Pro channel licence, GOLD licence or QVR Elite channel subscription. Do not use an old Surveillance Station channel count to infer QVR Surveillance entitlement.
- Check License Center. Confirm that the relevant licence shows Activated and belongs to the intended NAS/account. Check whether another QVR application currently uses it. Preserve the existing recording service while deciding how to switch.
- Use the correct version branch. In QVR Surveillance 3.1.0 and later, a QVR Pro licence can be added and activated directly in the NAS License Center after installing QVR Surveillance. In 3.0.x and earlier, QNAP’s procedure requires QVR Pro to be installed before the QVR Pro licence is added in License Center.
- Plan any application change. If an existing recording installation uses the licence, arrange the migration and recording interruption with the administrator. QNAP says manual licence deactivation is not normally required for the supported switch; do not remove an application or its data blindly to release a licence.
Under QNAP’s mapping, QVR Pro channel licences retain their channel count, GOLD maps to eight perpetual channels, and QVR Elite channel licences keep their subscription terms. Unlimited playback is built into QVR Surveillance; its former QVR Pro add-on does not need to be bought again for that feature.
Verify: open the licence view in QVR Surveillance and confirm the recognised entitlement and available channels. Then test the intended cameras and recording. If it remains missing, submit an ACE Support ticket with application versions, redacted activation status and proof of entitlement. Keep licence keys and account passwords private.
