Frequently Asked Question
Why does Qsync skip particular files even though other files synchronise?
If most files synchronise but a particular extension never appears on the NAS, check Qsync’s file filters first. QNAP documents that temporary files such as .part can be excluded by default. A skipped temporary download does not necessarily mean the whole connection has failed.
- Confirm the correct folder pair. In Qsync Client, check the NAS and local folder involved. Confirm that the completed source file opens on the computer. Avoid moving or renaming the only copy while troubleshooting.
- Inspect the exclusion list. In clients with the documented menu, open Settings > Sync Filters. Earlier clients may show Policy > Filter Settings. Look for a matching filename or extension rule, such as
*.partor a wildcard that also matches the wanted file. - Keep temporary-file protection where possible. Allow the download or application to finish, then test the final file. If there is a real requirement to synchronise an excluded extension, record the original rule and remove only that specific rule. Click Apply. Ask the administrator if centrally managed settings cannot be changed.
- Check one harmless test file. Let normal synchronisation run, or use Sync Now where available. Verify that the final file appears on the NAS and opens correctly. Then check the affected original file and the client’s current status.
Before broader changes: keep a separate usable backup. Deleting a folder pair, changing conflict policies or restarting NAS services can affect other users and does not establish why a file was excluded.
If the file remains missing, submit an ACE Support ticket with the Qsync Client/Central versions, NAS firmware, filename extension, folder-pair direction and relevant status message. Conceal personal filenames and account information. We can help distinguish a filter match from a permissions, conflict or connection problem.
