I can sign in to the Foscam app, but the camera says the username or password is wrong. Why?

QUICK ANSWER

The Foscam cloud account, the camera’s own login and the Wi-Fi password are different credentials. Resetting the app account password does not automatically change the username and password stored on the camera.

Applies to: Foscam app and supported IP cameras with a separate camera login.

Work through these checks

  1. Note where the failure occurs: app sign-in, joining Wi-Fi or opening an already listed camera. Record the exact prompt before trying more passwords. Avoid repeated attempts that may lock access.
  2. For Camera Login, use the device account created when that camera was configured. A NAS, NVR or VMS connection also needs the camera’s intended local credentials, not the cloud email login.
  3. If another authorised administrator can still view the camera, ask them to verify the device account and approved recovery route. Use individual sharing for family viewers instead of distributing the owner’s login.
  4. If the device password is genuinely lost, follow the exact model’s documented recovery process with the owner. A hardware reset can remove network and recording settings, so preserve the setup and required footage first.

Confirm the result

The intended device opens using its camera login, while app/cloud sign-in and any NVR connection continue to use their appropriate credentials.

Before going further: Do not post a camera UID, password, recovery QR code or public access address. Resetting the cloud account is not a universal camera-password recovery method.

If you need help

Include these details in your ticket: Camera model, app version, exact login prompt and whether another authorised app/VMS session can still connect.
