Last Updated 7 months ago

Issue

  • A trusted website is being flagged by Web Access Protection.
  • You wish to exempt a specific URL from Web Access Protection checks.

Solution

For ESET PROTECT Users

Use ESET PROTECT or ESET PROTECT Cloud to unblock a safe website at the endpoint level.

For Home Users

Use ESET Windows home products to prevent a trustworthy website from being blocked by Web Access Protection.

Precautions Before Whitelisting a Website

Whitelisting a site could potentially expose your system to risks. It's advisable to proceed under the guidance of an experienced system administrator or ESET Technical Support.

Best Practices:

  • Temporarily whitelist the website.
  • Avoid whitelisting sites where you enter sensitive data, like banking sites.
  • Maintain real-time file system protection when downloading or running files from whitelisted sites.
  • Report the site if you believe ESET has incorrectly categorized it as unsafe.

Steps to Unblock a Website

  1. Open the primary interface of your ESET Windows endpoint product.
  2. Hit F5 to navigate to Advanced setup.
  3. Go to Protections > Web Access Protection and select the URL List Management, then click Edit next to the Address list.image
  4. Choose List of Addresses Excluded from Content Scan and click Edit.image
  5. Click Add, input the URL in the empty field, and confirm with OK.image
  6. Press OK once more to save your changes and leave the Advanced setup menu.

The website that was previously blocked should now be accessible.
