Save Your Configuration
First, export all settings from your ESET product because these won't be auto-recovered during reinstallation.
Preserve Network Adapter Settings
After employing the ESET Removal Tool, you might have to reinstall network adapter drivers. To safeguard your settings:
- Open an admin-level command prompt.
- Execute:
netsh -c interface dump > C:\NetworkSettings.txt
- After tool execution, run:
netsh -f C:\NetworkSettings.txt
to restore settings.
Steps for ESET Removal
- Download ESET Removal Tool: Save it to a folder on your computer.
- Boot in Safe Mode: This is essential; otherwise, the tool won't operate.
Note for Windows 11 Users: If you encounter a system access error, move the
.exe
file to a folder not synced with OneDrive. - Execute the Tool: Double-click the saved
.exe
file to initiate. For advanced commands, launch an admin-level command prompt.
Commands for Advanced Users
- Acknowledge the warning by typing 'y'.
- From the list of installed ESET products, enter the corresponding number of the one you wish to remove. Press Enter.
- Confirm your choice by typing 'y'.
- After the tool completes its process, exit by pressing any key (or type 'q' and then any key).
- Execute the ESET Uninstaller again if your product still appears in the list.
Post-Uninstallation
- Reboot your machine in normal mode.
- Check the ~ESETUninstaller.log for a detailed activity record.
If reinstallation still encounters issues, remove the ehdrv driver via the device manager and run the ESET Uninstaller tool once more. Multiple attempts might be needed for complete removal due to the software's security nature.
