Frequently Asked Question
HiTi P525L reports Paper Out 02 even with paper fitted. How do I check the roll?
QUICK ANSWER
Paper Out 02 can indicate an empty roll or an incorrectly installed roll. Check the feed direction and supported media loading before treating it as a sensor failure.
Applies to: HiTi P525L with the exact Paper Out 02 message; jam and mismatch codes need their own procedures.
Work through these checks
- Stop queued jobs and record the full message. Confirm that paper and ribbon come from the correct supported kit and that the paper roll is not actually exhausted.
- Use the normal media-door procedure, keeping hands clear of the cutter and hot printhead. Inspect the accessible paper path for loose scraps without opening service panels.
- Reload the roll in the direction and position shown in the P525L manual, with its flanges correctly seated. Present a clean straight leading edge as instructed; do not push paper against a locked mechanism.
- Close the door, let initial loading finish and run one test print. If the code changes to a jam or mismatch, stop and use the guide for that new code instead of repeating the same loading cycle.
Confirm the result
The printer reaches Ready and feeds, prints and cuts the test normally. Compare the error with another supported kit only if it can be loaded safely.
Before going further: Repeated feeding against resistance can damage the transport. Persistent errors with correctly loaded media require assessment, not force or internal sensor adjustment.
If you need help
Include these details in your ticket: Exact code, media-kit size, remaining roll, loading photograph and whether the problem started after changing the kit.
