Frequently Asked Question
My HiTi P525L photos look pink, dark or different from the screen. How do I check colour settings?
QUICK ANSWER
Use one deliberate colour-management path. Applying an app's printer profile and another colour correction in the driver can alter the result twice.
Applies to: HiTi P525L printing from Windows photo/photobooth software with compatible media and driver.
Work through these checks
- Use a known reference image and the correct paper/ribbon kit. Compare several images so an unusual source photo is not mistaken for a printer fault.
- Open the printer's Printing Preferences > Color or the equivalent driver tab. Record the current colour profile and correction settings before changing them.
- HiTi offers choices including HiTi Classic, Windows colour management and no driver colour management. If the application intentionally applies the correct printer ICC profile, avoid applying a second profile in the driver.
- Change one setting and print one labelled test. Compare under consistent neutral lighting. An uncalibrated bright monitor can make an otherwise reasonable print look too dark.
Confirm the result
Choose the consistent app/driver combination using the same test image. A colour setting that fixes one edited photo is not necessarily suitable for all jobs.
Before going further: If a strong cast appears across all jobs despite correct settings and media, save the samples and request assessment rather than compensating with extreme colour sliders.
If you need help
Include these details in your ticket: Driver version, software name, ICC/profile choices, media kit and a photo of the print next to a reference. Screenshots should hide licence keys.
