Frequently Asked Question
How do I reduce flickering lights or dark bands in Insta360 X5 indoor video?
QUICK ANSWER
Check Anti-Flicker against the lighting supply and make a short test under the actual lights. LEDs and dimmers can still flicker at frequencies that a simple mains setting cannot remove.
Applies to: X5 and supported X-series cameras. Available settings depend on model, shooting mode and firmware.
Work through these checks
- On X5, open the camera's shortcut menu, then Settings > Image Settings > Anti-Flicker. Start with the frequency appropriate to the location; Singapore's mains supply is 50 Hz.
- Record a short test with Auto and the appropriate fixed frequency. Compare the original clips, not just the live preview.
- If bands remain, compare a different frame rate/exposure setting supported by the mode and test the light at another dimming level. Change one setting at a time and keep enough light for the chosen exposure.
- Compare against daylight or a different light source. If only one LED fixture causes bands, the fixture/driver may require a lighting change rather than a camera repair.
Confirm the result
Review the exported test at normal speed and frame by frame. Keep the least-flickering setup for that particular room and lighting level.
If you need help
Include these details in your ticket: Camera/firmware, mode, frame rate, Anti-Flicker/exposure settings, country and a short original sample. Note whether the lights are dimmed.
