My UniFi Device Bridge stays white or loses its wireless uplink after a power cut. What should I check?

QUICK ANSWER

Confirm the exact bridge model and a supported parent connection before resetting it. Ordinary UDB receives a wireless link from a supported UniFi AP; it is not a general bridge pair with another UDB.

Applies to: Standard UniFi Device Bridge UDB; UDB Pro, Pro Sector, IoT and Switch models have their own requirements.

Work through these checks

  1. Record the model label, LED state, Network version and intended parent AP. Check whether the AP and controller have fully recovered from the outage before judging the bridge.
  2. Check the supported parent/child combination. Standard UDB cannot act as the parent for another UDB or bridge directly to a UDB Pro. Do not assume all products with Bridge in the name form compatible pairs.
  3. Review the intended AP’s mesh/Auto-Link configuration as applicable to the exact device. Check signal and placement with the bridge near the intended parent before blaming the downstream wired device.
  4. For a repeatable outage-only failure, test one controlled recovery after the parent AP is ready and record the result. Collect versions and support evidence; a community workaround or engineering firmware is not a universal supported fix.

Confirm the result

The bridge establishes its intended wireless uplink and the attached device obtains the correct network access after a supervised restart test.

Before going further: Do not install an unofficial firmware build or repeatedly reset an adopted production bridge. Verify the Ethernet port’s PoE output requirements before attaching equipment.

If you need help

Include these details in your ticket: Exact bridge/AP models, versions, LED sequence, parent/child diagram and whether failure occurs only after simultaneous power-on.
