Frequently Asked Question
UniFi Protect records detections but my phone receives no alerts. How do I fix notifications?
QUICK ANSWER
Check the notification rule as well as the camera detection. Recording an event and sending a phone alert are separate functions.
Applies to: UniFi Protect versions using Alarm Manager. Older releases may use different notification menus.
Work through these checks
- Confirm that a fresh event appears in Protect for the affected camera. If there is no event, check the enabled detection type, zones and supported camera features first.
- Open Alarm Manager and inspect the relevant alarm. Check its trigger, selected cameras, schedule and conditions, including any presence-based restriction.
- Check that the intended user is a recipient and that push notification delivery is enabled for that alarm. Verify that the phone app is signed into the same account and console.
- Allow Protect notifications in the phone's system settings. Check Focus/Do Not Disturb and battery restrictions. Trigger one safe test event and compare the alarm history with the phone's notification history.
Confirm the result
A new test event should appear in Protect and produce an alert on the intended phone. Old recordings will not necessarily generate new alerts after a rule is changed.
If you need help
