Frequently Asked Question
Why does my Archer AX73 show Wi-Fi connected but no internet or an orange Internet light?
ACE SUPPORT · TP-LINK
Joining the AX73 Wi-Fi only proves a connection to the router. Check the upstream cable, WAN status and ISP requirements to find where internet access stops.
Applies to
Archer AX73 in wireless-router mode. Hardware versions and regional firmware have different screens. If another router is meant to handle routing and the AX73 is an access point, confirm that design before following WAN-specific steps.
Before you begin
Do not factory-reset the router or ONT first. A reset can remove ISP authentication, VLAN and other working settings.
A direct modem/ONT test must follow your ISP's connection requirements. Keep the computer firewall enabled and reconnect the normal router afterwards.
Work through these checks
- Check whether all clients fail, including one computer connected to an AX73 LAN port. Confirm the upstream modem/ONT is online and look for an ISP outage. If only one client fails, record its IP settings and compare another client before changing the whole router.
- Trace the cable from the ISP device's authorised LAN/internet output to the AX73 WAN port. Reseat it and substitute a known-good cable. A working Wi-Fi signal does not rule out an unplugged WAN link or an ISP-disabled output.
- While connected locally, open tplinkwifi.net and inspect Network Map > Internet. Record whether there is no physical link, no WAN address, or an assigned address. These are different failure stages; avoid changing DNS to solve a disconnected cable.
- For an address/authentication problem, confirm the ISP-required connection type and any VLAN or login details with the provider. Follow the matching AX73 manual. Do not invent PPPoE credentials or copy settings from a different Singapore ISP.
- If the upstream connection works but the AX73 still fails, save the current configuration and system log. Restart the modem first and allow it to become ready, then restart the router. If a valid WAN address remains but sites fail, have support assess DNS and upstream reachability using the recorded settings.
Confirm the result
Check several ordinary websites and the affected application from both a wired and wireless client. Confirm internet survives a normal reconnect. An Internet icon or one cached page alone is not enough.
