General: Not able to access to Synology NAS

There are a few circumstances where you are not able to access to Synology NAS

  1. The NAS is not power ON
  2. The Network is not connected
  3. The NAS is faulty
    1. The power adapter is not working
    2. The mainboard is not working
  4. The HDD is faulty

How to Troubleshoot

  1. Use Synology Assistant to search your NAS.
  2. Physically check your NAS and the light at power adapter is having steady light.
  3. If the NAS or power adapter do not have any power at all. You may make an appointment with our support team to send in the NAS for troubleshoot.
  4. If the NAS still can be turn on but it just blinking light without a beep sound. Remove all the HDD (Please label the sequence on the HDD) and power up without HDD, as most likely one of the HDD is faulty.
  5. If your NAS can be detect by Synology Assistant without HDD and the Status will show not installed.
  6. Power off the NAS and insert back HDDs without one disk at a time and power on the NAS and search with Synology Assistant. Example you have three HDDs, you insert Disk 1 and Disk 2 and power on. If successful power up mean Disk 3 is faulty.
  7. Now your volume status will become degraded mode and you should able to access to your data, please find following link Storage: How to repair a Volume or Disk Group?
  8. If the NAS not able to power on without any HDD. You may make an appointment with our support team to send in the NAS for troubleshoot.
