Backup: How to Configure NetBak Replicator Back Up - Windows

QNAP NetBak Replicator provides several options for copying files from your Windows computer to your NAS. By simplifying the backup process, NetBak Replicator helps ensure that your files are safe even when your computer becomes unavailable.

A. Configuring QNAP NetBak Replicator

Before you can start using NetBak Replicator, you must first complete the initial configuration process.

  1. Open NetBak Replicator.
  2. Click Start.

    NetBak Replicator displays all QNAP NAS devices connected to the local area network.
  3. Select the NAS and then click Next.

  4. Select the shared folder and then click Next.

  5. Specify your NAS user name and password, and then click OK.
    • Tip: You can select Remember username and password to save your login informaiton.

  6. Click Finish.

QNAP NetBak Replicator is configured and ready for use.

B. Using Instant Backup in NetBak Replicator

You can use Instant Backup to immediately back up your files.

  1. Open NetBak Replicator. The Simple Mode screen appears.

  2. Click Instant Backup.
  3. Select the folders or files that you want to back up and then click Next.

  4. Specify the NAS destination folder and then click Start.
    • Note: The destination NAS folder that you selected during the initial configuration process is selected by default. To specify a different folder location, select Network Location Wizard.

      The backup job is completed and a confirmation message appears.
  5. Click OK and then click Finish.

    Tip: You can click Details to view the detailed information of the backup job.

C. Using Auto-Backup in NetBak Replicator

NetBak Replicator supports automatic backup for computer drives, My Documents,
Desktop, and Favorites to QNAP QBack devices, local or external disk drives, or network
shares. When source files are added, modified or deleted, the changes will be
synchronized with the destination automatically. (Opened file option (VSS) is not
supported with Auto-Backup)

Note: Incremental backup is used for this feature. After the first time data backup, NetBak
Replicator only copies files that have been added or changed since the last backup.

  1. Open NetBak Replicator. The Simple Mode screen appears. Click Advanced Mode.

  2. The Advanced Mode Screen appears
    • 1 - Source of your PC
    • 2 - Destination
  3. Then click Start Auto-Backup.

D. Using Schedule in NetBak Replicator

NetBak Replicator supports scheduled backup to back up specified files and folders from
your computer to a QNAP NAS, local or external disk drives, or network shares on a daily,
weekly or monthly basis.

  1. Open NetBak Replicator. Click Advanced Mode. Then Select Schedule Backup
    • 1 - Source of your PC
    • 2 - Destination
    • 3 - Start time and frequency
    • 4 - Job List (You may create multiple job list)
